Recognize that every interaction you have is an opportunity to make a positive impact on others.

— Shep Hyken

The Sister Chapter Program was founded on ideals aligned with this message. Human interaction is a key cornerstone in every event of progress that humankind has ever witnessed, and it was with this notion in mind that the foundations for the program, initiating conversation, and collaboration between chapters were set.

The Sister Chapter Program helps to connect Student Chapters globally and facilitates the professional development of participating student members by teaching them how to work with chemical engineering student peers from different cultural and geographic backgrounds. The Executive Student Committee  encourages all Student Chapter Leaders to enroll their chapters in this program, which provides a golden opportunity for chapter members to grow their network and gain exposure to different perspectives on various issues — from half way across the world!

New award recognizes exemplary collaboration

As my subcommittee takes over, the number of AIChE Student Chapters has risen to 350+ and the potential of the Sister Chapter Program is exponentially increasing.  To push us further along the path towards realizing the full potential of this program, the Sister Chapter Subcommittee of the Executive Student Committee is proud to announce the inception of a new award, the Outstanding Sister Chapters Award.

Our hope is that this award will serve as a key motivating factor in achieving the vision with which the program was started. This award will stand testament to the efforts of chapters to maximize efforts of interaction and collaboration.  With so many active participants in the Sister Chapter Program, I anticipate a tight competition, and my team looks forward to reviewing each and every entry.
